Bike Trip to Poland
After bikepacking in Sweden for the past two years, my bikepacking bud Christopher and I decided to head to Poland this time around.
The Trip
The trip began with a nice surprise. After riding down a horribly, shitty and bumpy polish street we met Jacob, a student from the middle of Germany who was on his way to Estonia. For the rest of the trip he would join us and keep us company up until Gdansk.
Jakob on left, Chris on the right. Sorry for the stupid grin, couldn't find a better picture. Note the blue speaker, more on that later.
After "working" our way through many polish sea side towns that were full of tourists we were finally greeted by beautiful polish forests. Not the swedish bicycle path quality were used to but also fun to ride. As always we were lucky with the weather - not a drop of rain in 7 days of vacation.
Taking a break to support our local football team - Holstein Kiel.
Beautiful sunsets at the baltic sea. We didn't dare wild camping at the beach as it was quite crowded and we read about some hefty fines. Luckily we could find perfect places to camp out all over the place in Poland.
Remember the blue speaker from earlier? Yeah, while this picture was taken, some of our shit we left behind at our camping spot in the forest got stolen. We were pretty mad at that time but now I can laugh about getting my speaker stolen after owning it for literally 4 days.
The aforementioned shelters. Scroll down to the resources section at the bottom of this page to find a link to the official map.
Beautiful lake close to one of our camping spots. We went swimming every single day. Can't imagine a bike tour without daily swims.
Repairing a flat tire.
An average breakfast.
Really cool camping spot. This one was a semi-professional camping ground by a polish farmer. It was like 5 bucks a night, you got access to a shitter, electricity and fire wood. We didn't have any polish cash on us but there was a nice polish dude who could give us some cash in exchange for PayPal Euros. Shower wasn't there but not needed since it had this nice beach.
Yeah, we made it to Gdansk! Amazing city. The World War II Museum was crazy good but insanely big. We spent 4 hours there and still had to skip a lot of stuff.
Saying goodbye to Jakob. He would continue his ride to Estonia, while Christopher and I took a bus back to Germany.
All in all an amazing adventure again - can't wait for the next trip
